Dopaco Swirl Coffee Cup and LidPJP has recently made a switch to stocking the Swirl Designed Hot Cupsand Lids from Dopaco. These cups were brought into stock as  replacement to the popular Bistro Cup Line from  Solo Cup. Due to the large increases in price from Solo Cup, PJP saw this cup as a high quality alternative hot cup at much more affordable price.

I decided to try some of these cups this past week to see if it was the same quality. I used the 12oz Swirl Design Cups and paired them with the white travel style dome lids. The lids come in white and black, I chose the white for my test purposes. I drank about 12 cups of coffee over a 3 day period and am happy to say the cups performed pretty well, and without any major incidents.

I found them to be comparable to withstanding heat to other paper hot cups that I have used. After pouring hot coffee into the cups I found them to be hot to the touch, but still cool enough to carry the cups from the my house to the car. I would still recommend stores offer customers the use of a coffee sleeve. They do make the carrying of the cup more enjoyable.

As far as keeping the coffee hot, I think its performance was average. After leaving my coffee in the cup for an hour it was still warm enough to drink. I do not like cold coffee. It was far from hot, but it was warm. The cup was also sturdy and rigid. Some less expensive hot cups after 30min to an hour will turn soft and seem porous. The Dopaco Swirl Cupwas sturdy, and far from becoming porous and leaking through the bottom or side seals.

The Dopaco Swirl Cups are currently stocked in 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 16oz, 20oz. They also can be fitted with a one size fits all dome lid available in white or black. The dome lid does have a rather low profile so I would not consider it the most attractive lid on the market when I compare it to the Solo Traveler Lid. The Dopaco Lid I am happy to repeat does not leak. I turned the cup on its side, and it did not leak or drip. If I had to choose between a lid that leaks and one that is more attractive, I will pick the one that does not leak. I think as a customer that is the most important.

Rubbermaid’s Convertible Cart

Rubbermaid Commercial Product's New Convertible Utility Cart

Rubbermaid Commercial Products recently introduced a new convertible utility cart that I believe might be one of the most useful and innovative products they have introduced to date. I recently used a demo unit here at PJP to transport a few boxes around the office and accross the warehouse.

According to Rubbermaid Commercial Products, this new cart allows the user to quickly convert it from its storage position to a platform truck and then to a 2 shelf utility cart in virtually seconds. Without the need for tools, complex buttons, this cart can be converted by simply utilizing the users momentum and stepping on the quick release foot peddle. I found that this is true and not only is it easy, but extremely smooth. The move-able hinges and parts do not stick and move freely without any interruption.

When folded down the cart can be easily stored to fit any space that is 12″ high (under a shelf or table) or 12″ wide (standing up on its end and next to shelf or wall). I currently have this item stored between two filing cabinets in my cubicle.

The 5 inch casters are very smooth to roll on both carpet, tile, concrete, sidewalks and virtually any place you need to take your cargo. They also allow you to easily swing the cart 360 degrees and navigate around tight corners and obstructions like desks, and through doorways.

Overall the cart appears to be bulky in size, being that is made of rubbermaid’s durable plastic and a metal construction, but when measured it is same width (23 3/4 in), length (45 1/4 in), and height (43.8 in) as other traditional carts. With a 250lb load capacity this cart can easily hold most boxes, tools and other cargo.

Anyone looking for a new utility cart or platform truck should consider this convertible utility cart, as it really is two carts in one at an affordable price.
